There is no the right time about
when to stop breastfeeding.
When to stop breastfeeding is a mutual decision between you and
your baby; it is not for anyone else to dictate. The time to stop
giving breast milk to your child is something that will just happen.

Generally, the number of
breastfeeding babies drops as babies begin to eat solid food. Even if
your baby is still perfectly happy at the breast, you've may have had
enough and stop breastfeeding and that's okay. Breastfeeding gets old.
Breastfeeding can be a grind. Whatever length of time you have offered
the breast has benefited your baby and when it's time to move on, do
so confidently.

Stopping early
Even breastfeeding for a short time
is beneficial. In the first few days after your baby’s birth, your
breasts produce colostrums and after that you decide to stop
breastfeeding. If you decide to bottle feed, your baby will need to
have infant formula until 12 months of age. Formula milk is specially
designed for babies who are not exclusively breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding while pregnant
Stopping breastfeeding
during a pregnancy is another reason why women decide to stop
breastfeeding - in fact; it is the primary reason why mothers stop
breastfeeding in the developing world.
If you are breastfeeding and become
pregnant, you may choose to continue to breastfeed or you may like to
gradually stop breastfeeding your baby.

Many nursing mothers are
unsure about when to stop breastfeeding. There is no set situation or
time when a woman is recommended to stop breastfeeding her child.
Your approach will depend on
your child’s age. There are many strategies for weaning a baby onto a
bottle or a cup. If you're having trouble
convincing an older child to give up the breast, appeal to her pride.
If milk is still plentiful, wear a snug bra and avoid stimulating the
breast.
Breastfeeding a young child rather than an infant is considered taboo
in Western world and breastfeeding a child in public is something many
mothers begin to feel embarrassed about - especially when that child
is insisting on nursing in public situations. Instead begin weaning
your child on solids - or bottle milk - and gradually cut down on
nursing.

A medical condition
Breast cancer, HIV
infection, alcohol or drug addictions are among the reasons why women
stop breastfeeding. But, before stopping breastfeeding consult your
physician as continuing to breastfeed. During a child's illness is
usually the breast course of action; your antibodies continue to give
your child the protection it needs.
Care of your breasts during
weaning
When possible, it is important to
wean your baby slowly to avoid problems such as mastitis.
